Purchase Disney World Tickets: How to Do It

Spending time at any of the Walt Disney World parks is a dream come true for many people. Disney makes it their mission to deliver magic to everyone, both young and old, and you can have an unforgettable time there. Before you can take your trip, you need to make sure you have the right tickets or passes to get you entrance into the park.

Disney World Tickets

Whether you choose to stay in a Disney hotel or elsewhere, you have a variety of options for your tickets and how to buy them. We make buying Walt Disney World tickets easier than ever, and can help you save plenty of money on your tickets too.

Where to buy tickets – and where NOT to buy them

There are many options to purchase Disney World tickets, but some of them are much better than others. Some methods of buying tickets could be scams or could just turn out not to be great deals. There are some places that you should never use to buy Disney tickets, including Craigslist and eBay. If you use these sites, you can never really know what you’re going to get. You could end up being scammed, and meeting up with someone to buy your tickets could even be dangerous.

Watch out for websites that could be running scams too. Only official sellers of Walt Disney World tickets like Park Savers should be trusted. There are some things to watch out for if you want to spot a scam.

Some ways to spot a scam include:

  • Using the Disney name in their URL – Disney does not allow this from official ticket sellers
  • Discounted 1-day tickets – something else that Disney doesn’t allow, so don’t trust sites offering this
  • Payment required by Western Union or other cash methods – always pay by credit card when you buy online so that your purchase is protected
  • Tickets sold by timeshare promoters – these might have something on their website about timeshare sales, and could mean you’re required to attend a seminar or something similar to get your tickets

Another thing to avoid is buying partially-used tickets or passes. To start with, you’re likely to buy these from sites like Craigslist, which isn’t a good idea. Even if you do manage to purchase legitimate passes, you won’t know how many days are really left on them until you get the gate of a park and try to enter.

Even if there are the right number of days left on it, Disney tickets are non-transferrable, so you shouldn’t be buying them anyway. And the number one reason not to buy partially-used multi-day tickets is that it’s illegal in Florida to resell them.

You can save money by buying your Disney tickets in the right place, but be wary of sites where tickets seem much lower than in other places. Park Savers can help you to save on your tickets, but if a site is selling tickets that are much cheaper than usual, there’s a good chance it could be a scam.

Ticket Types

Understanding the different types of ticket available for Walt Disney World is important before you decide to buy. Firstly, you need to understand the age categories for tickets. Adult tickets are for anyone aged 10 and over, while child tickets are for children aged 3 to 9. Infants aged 2 and under get into Disney parks free. Once you know whether you need adult or child tickets, you need to decide whether to buy Base tickets, Park Hopper tickets or Park Hopper Plus tickets.

Base Tickets

Base tickets are the most basic and affordable tickets, and are also called One Park Per Day tickets. These tickets allow you entry into one major theme park on each day of your visit. The four parks you get access to are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.

So if you want to visit both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, you will have to visit them on different days if you have Base tickets. You can leave and enter the same park in a single day, so you don’t have to stay for the whole day if you want to leave and later come back. However, you won’t be able to visit any other parks until the next day.

Obviously, if you want to visit all four parks, you need a ticket for at least four days. If you want to return to some parks on multiple days, you’ll need to consider which ones you want to go to and how many days you want to visit each. If you’d like to keep returning to any of the parks, other ticket types might make more sense for you in terms of both price and logistics.

Park Hopper Tickets

Park Hopper also give you access to all four major Walt Disney World theme parks, but you can come and go as you please. You can visit more than one park in a single day, and you can switch back and forth between them if you want to. Unlike with a Base ticket, you won’t be restricted to visiting just one park in each calendar day.

Park Hopper tickets obviously cost more, but they are better value the longer you choose to stay at Disney World. If you buy just a one-day ticket, the price difference between a Base ticket and Park Hopper ticket can seem fairly significant. However, when the extra cost is spread out over several days, it works out at just a few dollars more each day.

The longer you stay, the better value your Park Hopper tickets will be. Remember that your tickets are valid for the days that you choose when you buy them. You can change the dates later, but this could mean paying the difference if the price for your new dates is higher.

Park Hopper Plus Tickets

If the four major Walt Disney World theme parks are not enough, you can also get Park Hopper Plus tickets, which get you entry into all four parks, plus the two water parks, golf, mini-golf, and admission to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Like the Park Hopper tickets, Park Hopper Plus tickets allow you to visit more than one park in a single day.

When you buy Park Hopper Plus tickets, you get:

  • Entry to four major theme parks – Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios – on all days of your visit
  • Entry to Blizzard Beach Water Park
  • Entry to Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
  • Entry to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (not including additional ticket costs for some events)
  • One round of golf at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
  • One mini golf visit per day to Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course
  • One visit per day to Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course (you can only visit one mini golf course each day)

When it comes to the value of the tickets, you could save a lot of money by choosing the Park Hopper Plus option. Of course, it depends on what you want to do during your stay. If you’re planning to visit several theme parks and you want to go to one or more water parks too, you can save money by choosing the Park Hopper Plus option, instead of buying the other park ticket options and paying for a day ticket to one of the water parks on top. Plus, you get the added extras of rounds of golf and mini golf, as well as being able to visit ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Park Hopper Plus option gives you ultimate flexibility. If you decide to visit Walt Disney World for 10 days, you could do something different on every single day with this type of ticket. You can visit the four major parks as much as you want, plus you can visit the other attractions – the number of visits you get matches the number of days on your ticket. You can use more than one of these visits in a day, but you only have a limited number.

How Many Days?

Deciding how many days to stay at Walt Disney World can be tricky. There’s a lot to see and do, and you’re unlikely to be able to do it all in one trip. How long you stay will probably depend on your budget, as well as how much time you have available. At Park Savers, you can choose tickets for between three and 10 days, and choose the dates that you want from our calendar.

How long you stay will also depend on which type of tickets you choose to buy. If you want to visit all four parks but you choose to purchase Base/One Park a Day tickets, you will need to stay for at least four days to get into each park during your trip. A Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus ticket will allow you to be more flexible. You could visit two or more parks in one day, allowing you to shorten your trip if you want to.

Theme Parks, Water Parks and Attractions

Walt Disney World has four major theme parks, as well as two water parks and several other attractions. When you’re planning your trip and trying to decide what types of ticket are best, it’s a good idea to know about the attractions that are available and the experience that you can get from each one.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is the first park that opened at Walt Disney World in 1971, making it almost 50 years old. It’s not only the most popular park at Walt Disney World, but the busiest theme park on the whole world. With over 20 million annual visitors, you can expect it to be busy even during low season. The park is divided into six different themed sections:

Tomorrowland, Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Main Street U.S.A., and Liberty Square. There is a huge range of attractions for you to enjoy, with fun things for all ages to try. In general, the park opens at around 9 in the morning, and can close at around 7 to 9 in the evening. However, it can close earlier, and it may open earlier and close later in busier periods.

Some of the most popular attractions at Magic Kingdom include:

  • Cinderella Castle
  • The Jungle Cruise
  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor
  • The Space Mountain

Epcot

Epcot or Epcot Center is the second oldest park at Walt Disney World, and is themed around technology and the world. It was originally intended to be a community where people lived and worked, which is why it’s called EPCOT – Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. As well as having a variety of attractions, the park is well known as being the venue for some top festivals and events. It’s home to the International Food and Wine Festival, and the International Flower and Garden Festival. There are plenty of attractions and rides to explore at the park.

Some of the top rides and attractions include:

  • Seas with Nemo and His Friends
  • Soarin’
  • World Presentation
  • Mission: Space
  • The Captain EO
  • The Test Track Presented By Chevrolet
  • Spaceship of the Earth

Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course

The Fantasia Garden course for mini golf is found at Epcot, and it’s one of the visits included in Park Hopper Plus tickets. You can find the course at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel. Normal entrance is $14 for anyone aged 10 and up or $12 for children aged 3 to 9, or you can use your Park Hopper Plus ticket.

Hollywood Studios

Just like the name suggests, Hollywood Studios is themed around Hollywood, so you can get a taste of the West Coast from Orlando. Hollywood Studios is smaller compared to other parks, but there’s still a lot to do, and you could spend the day there. As well as the attractions and rides, there are parades that you can watch throughout the day. The park is open 12 hours a day, from 9 in the morning to 9 in the evening, but some attractions can open and close at different times of the day, depending on the time of year.

Rides and attractions at Hollywood Studios include:

  • Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
  • Lightning McQueen Racing Academy
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
  • Star Tour
  • Toy Story Mania

Animal Kingdom

The newest park at Walt Disney World, Animal Kingdom is the place to be for animal lovers. Themed around animals and their conservation, the park can teach you a lot about the animals there and has many attractions for you to explore. The Kilimanjaro Safaris are one of the biggest attractions at the park, but there are also other things to do, from dining options to shows and rides.

Here are some of the top things to do at Animal Kingdom:

  • Kilimanjaro Safaris
  • Dinosaurs ride
  • The Festival of the Lion King
  • Expedition Everest
  • The Maharajah Jungle Trek
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Avatar Flight of Passage

Blizzard Beach

As one of the two water parks at Walt Disney World, you can get entry to Blizzard Beach with a Park Hopper Plus ticket or you can buy an individual ticket for the park. Blizzard Beach is themed around a ski resort, with fake mountains, snow and chairlifts. In fact, it was created around a fictional backstory, which says that the park was originally intended to be a ski resort after a freak snow storm. However, after the snow melted, it was clear that the park was meant to be a water park instead.

Orlando can get pretty warm, especially in the middle of summer, so having somewhere to cool off is always going to be good. It’s warm enough all year that the park doesn’t need to close at any point, so you can enjoy it no matter when you decide to visit. Blizzard Beach has slides, rides, pools and even a play area for small children.

Some of the attractions at Blizzard Beach include:

  • Tike’s Peak
  • Downhill Double Dipper
  • Ski Patrol Training Camp
  • Summit Plummet
  • Cross Country Creek
  • Melt-Away Bay

Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course

You can also choose to use one of your Park Hopper Plus visits to play mini golf at one of two venues. The Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course is at Blizzard Beach and has two 18-hole courses. It would normally cost $14 for adults (aged 10 and up) or $12 for kids. However, remember that you can’t go to the Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course on the same day.

Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon is the other water park at Walt Disney World. It too is themed around a backstory, this time focused around a tropical paradise that was changed by a typhoon. The park features one of the world’s largest wave pools, and also has plenty of slides, rafts, rapids, and more. Ketchakiddee is designed for families with toddlers, offering small slides, chutes, fountains and waterfalls.

Some of the areas at Typhoon Lagoon include:

  • Castaway Creek
  • Miss Adventure Falls
  • Gangplank Falls
  • Humunga Kowabunga
  • Keelhaul Falls
  • Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

Another attraction included in the places that you can visit with a Park Hopper Plus ticket is the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. It’s located in the middle of the resort, and it has a number of facilities and venues, including an arena, a stadium, a baseball quadruplex, a store and a sports grill. A Park Hopper Plus ticket gets you entrance to the complex, but it doesn’t include the cost of any events. If you want to watch any sports while you’re there, you can get tickets before you go, or there is a box office as part of the complex too.

Oak Trail Golf Course

Park Hopper Plus tickets also offer the option of a round of golf at the Oak Trail Golf Course. The 9-hole walking course is family friendly, with three of the holes routed around a deep canal and a picturesque pond. If you want to go for a round of golf, make sure you check the rules for proper golf attire. You will need to wear either a polo shirt with a collar or a turtleneck/mock turtleneck if you’re a man or a suitable blouse or shirt if you’re a woman, as well as slacks, a skirt or Bermuda-length shirts.
